　　邓青云博士1947年出生于香港，1970年在英属哥伦比亚大学获得化学理学士学位，1975年在康奈尔大学获得物理化学博士学位。此后，邓青云博士成为位于纽约罗切斯特的柯达研究实验室的一名研究科学家，并开始了他从事有机半导体材料和电子应用设备开发的职业生涯。

　　2006年，邓青云博士因其在有机发光二极体和异质结有机太阳能电池上取得的开创性的成就被选为美国工程院院士。同年，邓青云博士被罗切斯特大学聘请为Doris Johns Cherry教授，现为罗切斯特大学化学工程系，化学系和物理天文学系教授。2011年，邓教授与芝加哥大学的斯图尔特·赖斯教授和卡耐基梅隆大学的克里兹托夫·马特加兹维斯基教授共同获得了由沃尔夫基金会颁发的沃尔夫化学奖，这是在化学领域仅次于诺贝尔奖的国际性大奖。

　　Dr. Ching W. Tang was born in Hong Kong in 1947, graduated with a BS in chemistry from the University of British Columbia in 1970, and obtained the PhD in physical chemistry from Cornell University in 1975. Later, he became a research scientist at the Kodak Research Laboratory in Rochester, New York, and began his career in organic semiconductor materials and electronic applications development. In 2006, Dr. Deng was elected US Academy of Engineering because of its pioneering achievements made in the OLED and hetero-junction organic solar cells. In the same year, he joined the University of Rochester as the Doris Johns Cherry Professor. Now, he is the professor of Chemical Engineering Department , Chemistry Department, and Physical Astronomy Department of the University of Rochester. Dr. Deng with Professor Stuart A. Rice of the University of Chicago, and Professor Krzysztof  Matyjaszewski of Carnegie Mellon University were awarded the Wolf Prize in Chemistry together in 2011, which is an international award second only to the Nobel Prize in the chemical field.
